I was SO THANKFUL that one of the port stops on my Carnival Cruise was Half Moon Cay, Bahamas. This is a very special island in the Bahamas because it is EXCLUSIVELY a Carnival island! It’s not crowded with ships from other cruise companies, and you really get the feel that it is a private island. Even though there is a plethora of excursion options for this port I was advised to consider just exploring the island at my leisure. I was blown away…
Stepping off the ship I was first taken back by its beauty. This island isn’t crowded with buildings, roads, or people – it is mostly sand, trees, and water. Talk about “organic”! Exploring the island was very easy and comfortable. I’m glad I was given the advice to wander around. There are SO MANY nooks and hidden gems! With a beautiful background of palm trees, I discovered sports activities including a full basketball court and two sand volleyball courts. Playing a pick-up game in paradise seems too good to be true. I continued walking and stopped at one of the bars which looked like a shipwreck on the beach (like a movie scene!) The Pina Coladas are wonderful! The view was truly indescribable. There was white sand and crystal blue water with island music playing in the background… I could have just sat all day relaxing and soaking in the scenery! Looking toward the water I immediately noticed several water activities to enjoy; paddle boarding, water biking, kayaking, snorkeling, sailing, etc. Large colorful villas are available to rent – perfect if you have a large group, bachelor or bachelorette party. If you are with children, be prepared for your kids to play, play, PLAY!!! There are several playgrounds on the island INCLUDING a children’s water park!!!
If you’re looking to explore, relax, swim, ride, play, drink, eat, shop, Half Moon Cay has all the bases covered for EVERY AGE!! This was definitely my FAVORITE port stop!
Best view!!
Epic game of tug-a-war.
Music plays throughout the whole island!
Fun playground on the sand.
Water park!
Ain’t THAT the truth!!
