ST. PETER PORT, GUERNSEY

ST. PETER PORT, GUERNSEY

Guernsey is part of the Channel Islands, which span the waters between France and England… although it’s technically not part of either and has a history that stretches back beyond both countries. St. Peter Port was once home to novelist Victor Hugo — and notably not Napoleon, who failed to conquer it — but today hosts a picturesque harbor, historic houses, flower-lined streets and even a castle. There are flavors to be found too, a delicious reminder of the watery crossroads of cultures that have passed through the island, bestowing it with pubs, fish and chip shops, local Roquette apple cider… not to mention the famous sweet gâche bread, a Christmas favorite.
