Altun Ha: Your excursion begins at the Fort Street Tourism Village at the pier where you'll board your 4x4 for a road trip to Altun Ha. Each vehicle carries four guests, one of whom will be appointed as a driver. This site was once a thriving Mayan city. Artifacts of the 2000-year-old ruins were uncovered in the area by workers searching for stone to use in building the Old Northern Highway. Eventually, the ancient discovery included 13 structures that surround two plazas and a 60-foot Temple of the Sun God, which marked the epicenter of a very important ceremonial site for the ancient Mayan civilization. You will get a chance to admire the beautiful Belizean countryside. Once your reach the ancient Mayan city of Altun Ha, you will get a chance to climb a top the temples for a breathtaking panoramic view of the plazas.

Requirements & Restrictions: Minimum age to drive - 18 years. Must present a valid driving license. Weight restriction 250 pounds. For safety reasons, pregnant woman, guests with neck or back conditions, or heart conditions may not participate in this excursion. Minimum age - 6 years.

What to Bring: Sunglasses, biodegradable sunscreen, hat, cash for purchases. Valid driver’s license (if applicable).

Good to Know: No alcohol will be provided to the driver before, during or after the drive. 4x4 vehicles are not automatic transmission; therefore, you must be able to comfortably drive a manual transmission. All vehicles are stick shift.
