Enjoy a different type of introduction to Corfu by enticing your taste buds with the incredible flavors of Greece on a walking tour through Corfu’s Old Town that includes stops for tastings of Corfiot cuisine in local food stores, delicatessens, and tavernas. Enter this UNESCO-listed neighborhood through the Bonati Arch, venture into the Jewish Quarter, and pass a 300-year-old synagogue. At George’s Traditional Products, taste original noubolo ham, often referred to as Corfu’s prosciutto and one of the island’s many unique delicacies. The “gastro” walk continues at Pergola, a traditional family-owned taverna serving local wine and bourdetto, a spicy fish casserole in a paprika-flavored tomato sauce. Later, admire the Town Hall’s Venetian style from the late 1600’s before sipping on kumquat liqueur in a quaint small shop called Afthonia. See the red domed bell tower, dating back to the 16th century, St. Spyridon Church. Then step inside a local patisserie to sample fresh ice cream flavors. With about an hour of free time in Old Town, enjoy coffee while relaxing in one of Liston’s many cafés, or browse local shops for the all-important souvenir. Head back to the ship having indulged in a true taste of Corfu.
