
Departing from the pier in the harbor town of Dun Laoghaire, your guide and driver will take you to the heart of bustling Dublin City. As you reach the city on your panoramic drive, you will soon spot the National Gallery of Ireland and various government buildings. You will stop to photograph the world-famous Doorways of Dublin in Fitzwilliam Square. Pass Dublin Castle, City Hall and Christchurch Cathedral en route to St. Patrick's Cathedral. Founded in 1190, St. Patrick's is perhaps best known for its association with Jonathan Swift, who was dean here from 1713 to 1745. Take photos of this impressive structure from the outside. Travel past the Guinness Brewery – home of the famous 'Black Stuff' – to Phoenix Park. Around Europe's largest enclosed public park, you'll see the homes of Ireland's president and the American ambassador. Driving back along the North Bank of the River Liffey, you will pass the Four Courts of Justice and Customs House. The Custom House was designed by James Gandon and completed in 1791. Crossing the Liffey back to Dublin's south side, you will pass the Old Parliament House, now the Bank of Ireland. Watch for Trinity College, founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I, it is Ireland's oldest college. Its library houses the world-famous Book of Kells, a hand-illuminated manuscript of the Gospels. Following this introduction to Dublin City, you will return to Dun Laoghaire and your awaiting ship.
