
Castle Mey Visit: Embark on a royal adventure with a trip to the Castle of Mey, the late Queen Mother’s summer residence. As you travel through the Northern Highlands, enjoy the stunning scenery and the unique Gaelic culture. A stop will be made for morning coffee at a visitor’s center along the way before continuing on to the Castle of Mey. The castle, originally built in the 16th century, has a rich history and was beautifully renovated and restored by the Queen Mother. During the tour, you’ll explore the castle’s apartments, the library, and the stunning gardens, including the traditional walled kitchen garden and the Queen Mother’s Shell Garden. After the visit, you’ll stop for a delicious lunch at a small country inn near the Castle before returning to your motorcoach for the picturesque ride back to your ship.

Accessibility:The Castle of Mey is only wheelchair accessible on the ground floor. There is a very small lift that can take guests from the ground level to the castle’s first floor, but it is not designed for mobility devices such as wheelchairs or scooters. Guests would need to be able exit their wheelchair or scooter to take the lift, which is small and cannot accommodate these types of mobility devices.
What to Bring: Local currency or credit cards for purchases. Wear comfortable walking shoes and clothing suited to the day’s conditions. Bring a hat and a waterproof jacket.
Good to Know: Credit cards are accepted in most shops, but not all. Tour may operate in reverse. No photography or videography is allowed inside the Castle of Mey. Visits to the castle are subject to Royal Visits. Such information may only be provided at short notice.
