Cruise with a Purpose: Join your professional science guide as you search for Humpback whales and participate in real data collection for an ongoing research project for local scientists. You will play a significant role in providing ongoing documentation and data collection for a local university and regional science program. Hands on experiences may include invasive species monitoring, humpback whale identification, orca identification, and recording marine mammal observations.
What’s Included:
Requirements & Restriction: Guests must be able to independently navigate three steps to board the vehicle and two large steps down into the vessel. To access the vessel, guests must navigate a ramp at the harbor which changes in steepness depending on the tide. Guests must sign a waiver to participate. For safety reasons, guests with recent surgeries or injuries should consult a physician before participating in this tour.
What to Bring: Comfortable closed-toe walking shoes (waterproof recommended but not required), dress in layers according to the weather, and a reusable water bottle.
Good to Know: There is about 100 yards distance of total walking on this tour. Groups are made of 20 guests or less. Tour operators encourage guests to bring a reusable water bottle in an effort to minimize plastic use. Whale sightings are guaranteed, or each guest receives $100 cash back (May through September only).
