Haleakala Crater Lookout: Visit the Haleakala Crater, the world’s largest dormant volcano. See the crater known as The House of the Sun that measures 7.5 miles long by 2.5 miles wide, which last erupted in 1790. You can gaze out at the beauty from the 9,740-ft. vantage point, with panoramic views of the Hawaiian Islands chain. We’ll visit the Haleakala Visitors Center and Park Headquarters Visitors Center.

What to Bring: A jacket is highly recommended as the temperature at the summit of Haleakala is drastically colder than the temperature at sea level. Comfortable closed-toe walking shoes for walking on uneven terrain. Cash or credit/debit card for additional purchases. Bottled water is also recommended.
