The perfect tour for wine buffs! Tour the vineyards and cellar of Plantaze Winery, followed by a wine tasting and lunch. For centuries, wine has played an essential part in Montenegrin culture, with Montenegro being the birthplace of the red wine Vranac. This dry red wine, with its unique taste and character, is considered the most important grape variety in Montenegro, and is only produced in these regions. A scenic drive of around 2 hours will take you through the countryside to the Plantaze Winery, the largest wine manufacturer in Montenegro. During the journey, your knowledgeable guide will provide you with interesting information on the area. Upon arrival, hop aboard a trolley train for a tour of the vineyards. As you relax on board, marvel at the stunning panoramic views. Afterwards, enjoy a guided tour of the wonderfully unique wine cellar. Formerly a military plane hangar, the tunnels were converted in 1999 into a huge wine cellar with capacity for millions of liters of wine. As you enter the tunnel complex, you’ll be immersed in a carefully controlled atmosphere that keeps the wine at around 66°F and 70% humidity, ensuring perfect conditions for ageing. Indulge in a delicious three-course lunch, during which you’ll have the opportunity to sample five of the different types of white and red wines they produce. Your return journey to Kotor passes through the charming town of Budva and offers a wonderful view of the island resort of Sveti Stefan.
There is approximately 20 minutes of walking on this tour, some of which is over cobblestones. Passengers are also required to negotiate around 15 steps; there is no lift available.
