Details

Aside from beautiful beaches and greenery, Lifou is a coral reef atoll, home to a dense tropical rainforest and secret grottos (caves) made of ancient, fossilized coral. Set out on a guided walk through nature highlighting the flora and fauna that are relied upon for medicinal purposes in Kanak culture. Step into one of Lifou’s many dramatic cave complexes, this deep and winding grotto features stunning stalactites and stalagmites. After your grotto tour, enjoy a refreshing glass of lemonade and some fresh fruits. At a nearby quarry, you’ll witness a demonstration of traditional hunting techniques, including coconut crab netting and wild pig hunting – a fascinating lesson that shows how the indigenous people manage to survive using the limited resources they have on hand.
