Step back in time by visiting two ancient and beautiful Sicilian villages which were used in a famous trilogy of American mafia movies. Enjoy a short sightseeing drive of Messina in your motorcoach. After a one-hour drive, reach the village of Savoca and walk to the Bar Vitelli, with its collection of local tools and photographs of the filming. Relax here with a local drink called Granita. Go on a guided walking tour along the village's main streets, passing some 15th and 16th century churches and the ruins of a Norman castle holding magnificent views. Next, proceed for approximately 30 minutes by motorcoach to Forza d'Agro, the charming little village overlooking the Arab-Norman castle of Capo Sant' Alessio and the coastline towards Messina. View the beautiful Baroque church that was used for a famous Sicilian wedding scene in one of the movies.
This excursion requires uphill climbing and walking over uneven ground. There are windy roads up to both villages. Water, sunscreen, comfortable shoes and a hat are recommended.
