Hiking Trail:Join the Tangalooma Ranger and tackle one of Moreton Island's many hiking trails. The trail takes you along the beach, through the forest, and out to the desert where you will get spectacular views of the sand dunes. Discover some of the many wildlife habitats and more than 180 species of birds that have been recorded on the island. The Australian pelican, pied cormorant, and white-faced heron are amongst the more common resident birds on the beaches of the Island.
Requirements & Restrictions: Minimum age – 6 years. Any guests 17 years or younger must participate with a parent or guardian. This hike has many steps, inclines, uneven terrain, and soft sand, so it may be difficult for some. This is an active excursion and guests must be physically fit in order to participate.
What to Bring: Waterproof jacket, bottled water, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, bug repellent, binoculars, and suitable protection for your camera. Wear sturdy walking shoes along with long sleeves and trousers made of cooling fabrics to protect your skin from sunburn.
Good to Know: This tour operates weather permitting, although rain is not a deterrent. Temperatures and humidity can be high. Although temperatures are hot, tropical showers are likely. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed since it varies by season and weather conditions.
