Baguettes and beaches seem like a strange mix, doesn’t it? Not here! Say bonjour to Noumea! You’ll discover the ambience of a sophisticated provincial French town fused with the friendly charm and heavenly climate of the Pacific Islands as you explore the highlights of Noumea. Enjoy a scenic drive past iconic landmarks, take in sweeping views from lookout points and sample wine and cheese at a local restaurant. After departing from the pier, you will drive through the city, past landmarks including the local markets, Port Moselle Marina, and the Southern Province Government House. Continue past Baie de l’Orphelinat, Baie des Citrons and Anse Vata Beach, all very popular locations with visitors and locals alike. First stop is Ouen Toro Lookout, a vantage point at the tip of the peninsula. Enjoy sweeping views over the city, the beautiful bays and beaches, across the lagoon (which is the largest in the world), and out to the coral-fringed tropical islands in the distance. This is also the location of a WWII memorial. Continue to a local restaurant to taste French wines with cheeses before the return drive back to your cruise ship.
To make your adventure as enjoyable as possible please wear comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, and bring a hat, plenty of sunscreen and bottled water. No commentary during the tasting portion.
