Combine a scenic ride to the unique Corinth Canal with visits to Ancient Corinth to see St. Paul's Bema, near the unique temple of Apollo, and then Homer's Golden Mycenae, home of the famous mask of Agamemnon. Follow the western coastline of Attica to the famous Corinth Canal on a 1.15-hour scenic drive. Make a 30-minute rest stop at the canal before continuing to the ancient site of Corinth. Walk through the ruins of this ancient town and those of the Roman Agora. See the Temple of Apollo, one of the oldest Doric temples surviving, and the Bema of St. Paul, the symbol of early Christianity in Greece. Continue for a 45-minute drive to the Golden Mycenae through the beautiful orange and lemon groves of Argolis.
Arrive at the village of Mycenae, where you will spot the imposing ancient citadel. Follow your guide up the ramp through the Lion Gate and enter Mycenae’s magic castle from 2000 B.C. Be reminded of Homer’s Iliad with the Grave Circle in which the famous golden mask of Agamemnon was found. See the Cyclopean Walls, the foundations of the Palace where Agamemnon once lived, the Postern Gate, and the entrance to the underground cistern. Continue to Atreus’ amazing Beehive Tomb for a photo opportunity to treasure. Enjoy a typical Greek lunch at a tavern before returning to Piraeus.
