Whale & Dolphin Watching RIB Adventure: Witness the beauty of whales and dolphins of the Azores on this Eco Adventure, ideal for those who want to feel close to nature. Your RIB (rigid inflatable boat) will venture out into the open sea to search for these fascinating mammals. Prior to setting off, you will be given a short briefing by one of the whale-watching experts. The crew on board are available during your excursion to answer any questions you may have on marine life and the rich history of the Azores. The Azores attracts 24 species of cetaceans with sperm whales being the most common. Other marine mammals that you might encounter include humpback whales, pilot whales, orcas, bottlenose dolphins, striped dolphins, and more!
Requirements & Restrictions: Minimum age – 6 years. For safety reasons, pregnant women, guests with back or neck injuries, or guests prone to seasickness may not participate on this excursion. This tour is ambulatory accessible; guests must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and take a few steps (up/down) to get on/off the boat without assistance.
What to Bring: Wear flat and rubber sole shoes and a warm, impermeable coat.
Good to Know: Due to the swells that can be experienced in the area, it is recommended that all guests should take seasickness tablets with them as a precaution. There is a 10-minute walk to the whale-watching base from the ship. This tour is dependent on weather conditions. Animal sightings are not guaranteed.
