
Xcambo Mayan Ruins: Not only visit a famous Mayan site, but you will have the opportunity to climb the Mayan temples and admire the splender of this Mayan city considered an important trading center that specialized in Salt production exported throughout the Mayan Peninsula. Xcambo comes from the Maya meaning Celestial Crocodile or place where exchanges are made. Among the structures that we will visit is the Temple of Sacrifices, where your guide will share important information about this ancient culture. Pink Salt Lakes: Visit a small salt flat lake just a few minutes from the Mayan site. It’s a small version of those on the coast of Yucatan, but they’re equally fun colors: sometimes pink, sometimes orange. The salt is harvested by locals and has been for thousands of years. In fact, it was the wealth of salt right here that led to the prosperity of the Mayan community at Xcambo. You can buy small bags of salt as a souvenir to take back home.
