Bike Adventure: Begin your adventure with a van ride to the revitalized Gold Rush town of Dyea, now embraced by the Tongass National Forest. Once there, your knowledgeable guide equips you with a bike for a leisurely five-mile ride on level dirt roads, making stops at captivating historic and scenic locations. Keep an eye out for majestic eagles and vibrant wildflowers, all while relishing the breathtaking mountain panoramas during your effortless pedal through this picturesque landscape.
Hike Adventure: Meet your guide for a great hike on the historic Chilkoot Trail. The trail goes up and down over uneven terrain. You stop often to learn about the area, take photos, and quench your thirst. The hike ends at the bank of the Taiya River where the rafting segment of your adventure begins.
River Float Adventure: Gear up with rubber boots and a life jacket before embarking on a gentle river float. This tranquil journey serves as the perfect ending to your remarkable outdoor adventure. Keep an eye out for bald eagles gracefully diving for fish and perhaps catch a glimpse of a river otter slipping off the bank. Following this serene experience, guests will be transported back to the ship's pier.
What’s Included:
Requirements & Restrictions: Minimum age – 10 years. Minimum height – 4 ft. 6 in. tall. Maximum weight – 270 lbs. Guests must be confident riding a bicycle on gravel paths, using hand brakes and walking over uneven terrain. Helmets are mandatory.
What to Bring: Sport shoes, sunglasses, layered clothing, camera, and credit/debit card for additional purchases.
Good to Know: Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Outer gear available upon request to the tour operator the same day of the tour. The bike portion is about 5 - 6 miles and the hike 1.5 - 2 miles, respectively. The river for the floating adventure is calm and does not have whitewater.
