Experience the medieval wonders of Hyères. After a scenic ride along the coast, you’ll arrive in Hyères and begin your walking tour. From the entrance of the medieval city center, you’ll begin your uphill walk through the narrow streets to the 12th century, Tour des Templiers, built by the Templars and used as a commandery. The nearby Saint-Louis Church is an excellent example of 13th century Romanesque and primitive Gothic style. Further uphill is the Castel Saint Claire, a 19th century home and garden that once belonged to novelist Edith Wharton. The outstanding garden offers breathtaking views of the entire town and the deep blue Mediterranean coastline. From a distance, at the top of the hill, you’ll see the ruins of the Medieval Castle of Hyères overlooking the town since the 13th century. At the conclusion of your tour, you’ll be given free time to explore Hyères on your own.
