Step off your coach and into a botanical wonderland after a short, scenic drive from Vigo’s port. Here, at the Castle of Soutomaior, your guide will help you identify species of flowers and trees. Your next stop is Pazo de Rubianes, a palace dating back over 600 years and one of only three official Lordships in Spain. After a guided tour of the interior, stroll through the tranquil gardens, which cover almost 11 acres. There’s nothing quite like tasting wine at the vineyard where it’s made, and you’ll be invited to try a local wine. Enjoy it with tapas such as Spanish omelette, empanada (Galician salty pie) and local cheeses.
This tour is unavailable on Mondays from October to April. It involves a lot of walking over uneven ground, including some steps. The Pazo de Rubianes shop accepts euros and major credit cards only.
