A 30-minute drive brings you to Rostock, past the typical eastern bloc living quarters of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern's biggest city. You will drive through Rostock's center with its centuries’ old red-brick architecture and Hanseatic ambience. Pass the old New Market Square with its beautiful City Hall and St. Mary's Church, Rostock's famous landmark. Continue past ruins of the old city walls and a former STASI prison (State Security of former East Germany, that was commanded by the KGB), before continuing your panoramic journey into the countryside. You will pass by the Bad Doberan Cathedral, one of Northern Germany’s largest and mightiest medieval churches. Enjoy a brief comfort stop at this impressive building site before continuing through lush countryside and small villages before returning to the ship.
