Underground Rivers: The Mayans believed that the cavern cenotes (a deep, water-filled sinkhole in limestone that creates a natural pool filled by rain and water from underground rivers) were sacred and used them to communicate with their gods. Swim in two of the caverns and discover the most amazing miracles of nature, as you admire the natural beauty, the amazing rock formations, stalactites and stalagmites, and the beautiful colors. Requirements & Restrictions: Minimum age – 6 years. Guests must be able to swim. For safety reasons, pregnant women and guests with back or neck injuries and heart or respiratory conditions may not participate in this excursion.
What to Bring: Water shoes, beach towel and cash for additional purchases as credit cards are not accepted at the sites.
Good to Know: This tour involves walking over rough terrain, rocky areas, and inclined surfaces that can be slippery. Driving time to the caverns is approximately 1 and a half hours.
